Published at: *27 Mar 2026* ## Week 1 — Manea The Salon, Banjara Hills

You know the type. Glass facade, air conditioning set to Arctic levels, staff in matching black uniforms. Located on Road No. 2, Banjara Hills, Manea has that glossy, aspirational energy — the kind of place where the menu looks like a wedding invitation and the prices make you blink twice.

I went in for a basic facial and a blow-dry. The facial was genuinely lovely — the aesthetician actually asked about my skin concerns instead of immediately upselling me on a ₹4,000 "glow package." The products smelled premium and my skin felt genuinely plump after. So far so good.

Then came the blow-dry. Now I have thick, slightly wavy South Indian hair. It takes time. The stylist rushed through it in 12 minutes flat because, I'm guessing, there was someone else waiting. My hair looked fine from the front. The back? I'll leave that to your imagination.

**The verdict:** Great for skin treatments if you can afford it. For hair? Skip unless you specifically ask for a senior stylist and have the confidence to *insist* on it.

**Value for money:** 6/10 **Ambience:** 9/10 **Would I go back?** Maybe. For the facial, yes. For hair, no.

## Week 2 — Juice Salon, Jubilee Hills

I found Juice through Instagram reels — you know the ones. Perfect lighting, the stylist doing dramatic before-and-after reveals, captions like "Transforming your hair, transforming your life ✨." With multiple outlets in Hyderabad, the Jubilee Hills one on Road No. 10 is their most popular, and honestly the hype is not entirely unfounded.

I booked a hair spa and a root touch-up. Big mistake? Not entirely, but let me explain.

The hair spa itself was *chef's kiss* — a full 45 minutes of scalp massage, steam, and a deep conditioning mask. My hair felt like it belonged to someone who drinks three litres of water a day and sleeps on silk pillowcases. Genuinely impressed.

The root touch-up, however, was a chaotic mess. The colorist was clearly managing three clients at once, kept disappearing, and left the color on for longer than she should have. My roots are sorted, yes, but the ends looked slightly brassy and I had to use a toner at home to fix it.

**The verdict:** Brilliant for hair spa and deep conditioning treatments. Patchy for colour work — go only if you can book their specifically skilled colorist well in advance.

**Value for money:** 7/10 **Ambience:** 8/10 (those ring lights are doing a lot of heavy lifting) **Would I go back?** For hair spa, absolutely. For colour, I'd think twice.

## Week 3 — Naturals Salon, Kukatpally

Look, I know what you're thinking. But hear me out.

My mother has been going to the Naturals at Kukatpally Housing Board Colony for years. It's a well-run but no-frills place — basic chairs, no fancy mood lighting, a TV in the corner playing some Telugu serial at full volume. The staff know their regular customers, what they like, what they don't, and exactly how much oil they want in their head massage.

I went in for a clean-up and threading. And honestly? It was the most *comfortable* experience of all five weeks. Nobody tried to aggressively sell me anything. The clean-up was thorough — proper steam, extractions done right (not just poking randomly), and a soothing mask at the end. Threading was precise and as painless as threading can be.

With a 4.8 Google rating and 25 years of expertise as a chain, Naturals has clearly built a reputation for a reason. After this visit, I completely understand why the regulars keep coming back.

**The verdict:** Underrated. Genuinely underrated. If you want results over aesthetics, and you want someone who actually cares about the service, Naturals will not let you down.

**Value for money:** 10/10 **Ambience:** 5/10 (but nobody's going there for the ambience) **Would I go back?** Every single time. Already booked next week.

## Week 4 — Kapils Salon, Hitech City (Inorbit Mall)

You've walked past Kapils at Inorbit Mall approximately 47 times if you've ever worked in Hitech City. It's slick, it's always busy, and the signage alone radiates "we know what we're doing."

I treated myself to a full package — haircut, hair colour consultation, manicure, and pedicure. The works. I was there for almost four hours.

The haircut was excellent. The stylist actually listened when I showed him my reference photo (a miracle, truly), and he asked questions — how much heat I use, whether I oil regularly, what my morning routine looks like. He then recommended a cut that worked *for* my hair, not just one that would look good in the salon and terrible at home. This is the man I needed all along.

The manicure and pedicure were solid — proper nail shaping, cuticle care, decent quality products. No cutting corners (pun intended).

Downside: Long wait even with an appointment. And the loyalty card system they kept pushing felt more annoying than helpful.

**The verdict:** Worth it for the haircut — genuinely good technical skills here. Nail services are solid too. Go when you have time and absolutely zero plans afterwards.

**Value for money:** 7.5/10 **Ambience:** 8/10 **Would I go back?** Yes, specifically for haircuts. Their senior stylist is worth the trip.

## Week 5 — Juice Salon, Madhapur (Hitech City Main Road)

Hear me out — I know I already visited Juice in Jubilee Hills. But the Madhapur outlet, right opposite Cyber Pearl on Hitech City Main Road, operates almost like a different place. It's calmer, slightly less chaotic, and the team had a noticeably different energy.

I went back specifically for a keratin treatment — the service that started this whole journey, if you remember.

And it was *brilliant.*

The stylist took a full 10 minutes just asking about my hair history before she even touched it. She told me upfront that my hair wouldn't go poker straight because of the natural texture, and managed my expectations properly — something no other salon has ever bothered to do. The treatment itself took three hours, done without rushing. She even gave me a clear aftercare guide at the end.

Three days later, my hair is smooth, manageable, and genuinely the best it's looked in two years.

**The verdict:** If you're going to Juice for a keratin treatment or any major chemical service, this Madhapur branch is the one. The team here is more thorough and more honest about what's actually achievable with your specific hair type.

**Value for money:** 9/10 **Ambience:** 7.5/10 **Would I go back?** I've already referred three people. So yes.

## The Honest Takeaway After ₹8,000+ and Five Saturdays

Here's what five weeks of salon-hopping across Hyderabad taught me:

**Price doesn't equal quality.** My best value experiences came from Naturals Kukatpally and the Juice Madhapur branch — neither of which had the most glamorous Instagram presence.

**Ask questions before you sit down.** Any stylist who gets annoyed that you asked what products they're using or how long a service will take — that's your sign to walk out.

**Book for specific services.** No single salon was the best at everything. Split your needs across places that genuinely specialise.

**The consultation matters.** The best stylists I met all started with questions. The worst ones came at me with equipment before I could say a word.

**A good head massage fixes a lot in life.** Unrelated to quality ratings. Just a fact.
