Published at: *22 Apr 2026* ## India's Tier 2 Salon Scene Is Going Digital — And the Numbers Prove It

There's a quiet revolution happening in small-town India — and it's not happening in malls or metro cities. It's happening in your neighborhood salon, through a phone screen, with a tap and a booking confirmation.

At Bewtee.com, we power salon discovery and online booking across Rajasthan — and the data we've collected from January to April 2026 tells a story that the beauty industry hasn't fully woken up to yet. **Tier 2 India is booking salons online. Enthusiastically.**

Here's what we found.

---

## 📊 The Big Picture: Over 1,000 Bookings in Under 4 Months

Between January 1 and April 22, 2026, Bewtee recorded **1,004 total bookings** from **496 unique customers**. That's a significant volume of demand flowing through a digital platform in a market most beauty-tech companies still treat as "emerging."

Even more telling? **194 of those customers came back** — that's a 39.1% repeat customer rate. In any industry, nearly 40% retention without a loyalty program or app push notification is remarkable. In tier 2 salons? It signals something deeper: customers are not just tolerating digital booking — they're preferring it.

---

## 💇 What Are People Actually Booking?

The service breakdown is a fascinating window into grooming culture in Rajasthan right now.

**Hair cut for men** dominated with **732 bookings and ₹1,12,957 in revenue** — by far the #1 service. Beard trimming and styling came second with 404 bookings. Clean shave, kids' haircuts, and head massage rounded out the top five.

What this tells us: **the male grooming economy in tier 2 cities is real, active, and digitizing fast.** Men in cities like Bikaner and Jaipur are no longer just walking into the nearest barber — they're browsing, choosing, and booking in advance.

Women's services are growing too. Haircut for Women (29 bookings), Eyebrows Threading (27), Facial for female (9), and Haircut for Women topped the booking request data when we looked at appointment interest — with **157 requests for women's haircuts** and **39 for facials**. The gap between interest and actual bookings signals a significant untapped demand on the women's side, especially for services like hair colour, spa treatments, and threading.

The **average customer books 1.5 services per visit**, spending an average of **₹269 per booking**. The highest single booking was ₹4,698.

---

## ⏰ When Does Tier 2 India Visit the Salon?

The peak booking hour is **11:00 AM**, followed closely by 10:00 AM and then the afternoon window of 2–6 PM. This is distinctly different from metro cities where post-work evening appointments dominate.

The busiest day? **Sunday, by a wide margin** — with 267 bookings, nearly double Friday (189) and almost five times Tuesday (54).

This makes cultural sense. In tier 2 cities, weekends are family time, celebration time, and — now apparently — grooming time. Salons in these markets should be fully staffed and energized on Sunday mornings.

One more thing worth noting: the **average booking lead time is just 0.2 days.** That's essentially same-day booking. Customers in these cities aren't planning weeks ahead — they wake up wanting a haircut and they book it that morning. For salons, this means real-time slot visibility is critical.

---

## ⭐ The Review Culture Is Emerging — And It's Mostly Positive

**339 reviews were submitted** across the platform, with an **average rating of 4.5 out of 5**. That's a strong signal of baseline satisfaction with salon services in these cities.

The dimensional breakdown is revealing:

- **Service Quality**: 4.5/5
- **Staff Communication**: 4.5/5
- **Cleanliness**: 3.8/5
- **Value for Money**: 3.8/5

Service and staff are clearly strengths in this market — local salon professionals know their craft and connect with clients. But **cleanliness and value perception have room to grow**. For salons looking to move upmarket or attract younger customers, investing in the salon environment and pricing communication will be key differentiators.

The rating distribution shows **282 five-star reviews** versus **32 one-star reviews** — a healthy skew toward satisfaction, though the 1-star segment suggests a vocal minority with strong complaints worth investigating.

---

## 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Who Is the Bewtee Customer?

The customer demographics reveal something the industry should pay close attention to.

**63.5% of customers are new** (315 people booking for the first time), while **36.5% are returning** (181 repeat customers). New customer acquisition is strong, but the returning segment is growing — and the top customers are remarkably loyal.

The highest-spending customers have collectively spent between ₹5,600 and ₹12,425 each, with one customer alone crossing **21 bookings** on the platform. Another has **28 bookings**. These aren't casual users — they've made Bewtee a genuine part of their lifestyle.

All-time metrics (across the platform's full history) are equally striking:

- **Average Lifetime Value per customer: ₹672**
- **Average bookings per customer: 2.7**
- **Request-to-booking conversion rate: 96.8%**

That last number is extraordinary. Of 1,419 people who sent a booking request, **1,374 became actual customers**. The intent-to-action conversion is nearly perfect, suggesting the platform removes friction effectively and customer intent is genuine.

---

## 🗓️ The Booking Request Pipeline

Beyond confirmed bookings, Bewtee also collected **777 appointment requests** from salon profile pages — a softer signal of demand. These came from **628 unique customers**, with 107 repeat requesters.

The top requested services from this pipeline tell a more balanced gender story:

1. Hair cut for men — 170 requests
2. Haircut for Women — 157 requests
3. Facial for female — 39 requests
4. Beard trimming — 32 requests
5. Deep tissue massage — 29 requests
6. Hair colour for female — 29 requests

Women's services represent a **significant share of expressed demand** even if they currently represent a smaller share of completed bookings. This gap — between what women want and what they're booking — points to opportunity: better discoverability of female-focused salons, more availability, and possibly more comfort with the booking experience.

---

## 💡 What This All Means for India's Beauty Industry

The data from Bewtee paints a clear picture: **online salon booking in tier 2 India is not a future trend. It's already happening.**

Here's what stands out:

**1. Men are leading the digital salon shift.** Male grooming is digitizing faster than female beauty services in these markets, likely because the services (haircuts, shaving, beard styling) are transactional and quick to book.

**2. Sunday morning is the new prime time.** Peak booking day and the 11 AM slot together define a very specific customer behavior that salons must prepare for.

**3. Loyalty is building.** Repeat customers, high lifetime values, and multiple-visit regulars show that digital isn't transactional — it's building relationships.

**4. Cleanliness is the next battleground.** With service quality high, the next differentiator in ratings is the physical environment.

**5. Women's services are the next growth frontier.** The demand signals are there in booking requests. Converting that into completed bookings is the challenge — and the opportunity — for the platform and salons alike.
